The Pilot

I had an interest in getting
airborne at a young age. I can
still remember getting my dad's umbrella
and climbing up to the top of a ladder and giving it a try when I was
around six years old. That didn't quite get me what I was looking
for so I
then went up to the roof but mom made me get down... I
still think that one would have been fun or at
least given us something
to talk about during dinner.
Since growing up.... (hum, perhaps we should
just say "getting older"
instead), I've flown Hang Gliders, and Airplanes but
now I'm
exclusively a helicopter pilot. I've
been actively flying
something for
over 15 years and I've logged hundreds of hours of flight time.
I'm a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) registered Private airplane
and Commercial helicopter pilot under CFAR Part 91. I've received
endorsements under SFAR 73 for both the Robinson R22 and Robinson R44
helicopters and I've attended the Robinson helicopter company factory
safety course
twice since 2003. I'm proud that Matty Chopper
has a zero
accident record and have every intention of keeping it that way.
I live in the mountains in the town of Coarsegold near Yosemite
National Park. I work a full time job and commute via my
helicopter during the week. So, this part
time adventure is what I do for fun and has several advantages for
us. First, if the weather is
poor or there are other circumstances that might reduce the experience,
I'm perhaps more likely to suggest that we postpone than others that
need to keep their aircraft flying to make a living. Second, I
can afford to discount my
rates. Third, I maintain my helicopter significantly above
anyone's
standards because it's my main way of getting around. This
provides us
with more safety and a clean, well cared for aircraft.
What to Expect
Please be ready to enjoy yourself and be
treated professionally. We will be going through some standard
emergency procedures before take off and you will be asked to follow my
direction at all times in and around the helicopter. See our Passenger Policies for more
information. While I can
offer everything from a thrill ride to a smooth sightseeing trip,
expect that we will be catering to the more nervous passengers if we
have some on board.
